Gravity Fires? pt2

By popular demand (from my siblings): the other half of the Gravity Falls zodiac as dragons! Plus Mabel's friends

Top row: Gideon, Candy, Grenda. Middle row: Robbie. Bottom row: Old Man McGucket, young man McGucket, Pacifica.

This one took even longer than the last one, thanks to a music camp I had to go to in the middle. McGucket's banjo took forever too

Code translations below

Once you start drawing characters as dragons you can never escape. Anyway here's the cast of our latest family obsession, Gravity Falls. This took me like four days

Clockwise from top left that's Dipper, Bill Cipher, Mabel, Wendy, Ford, Soos, and Stan.

Quick drawings of some of my WoF OCs. Ibex, Petrel, Hamerkop, and Fer-de-lance have shown up here before [12], but Alpine, Mesa, and Chrysis haven't. Alpine and Mesa are a detective team in one of my fanfics, and I'm not sure what Chrysis does but he's a very shiny Rain/Hive hybrid named after a kind of wasp.
Some Wings of Fire OC headshots

Some Wings of Fire Pyrrhian tribe headcanons

Welp. I drew 17 dragons and only four pairs of eyes. Illustrated headcanons, yay!

No spoilers here...still.

Pictured, clockwise from top: OCs Slurry, Saffron, Delta, Ibis, Sedge, Vervain, and Kaolin

MudWings are generally more touchy-feely than the other tribes, and engage in play behaviors for more of their lives. Like cats, they can have multiple fathers for a single clutch, and as such, a sibling group can have more color variation than you might expect. They can be any color of mud, depending on the region of the kingdom their ancestors came from, and occasionally the females come in calico. They have the strongest bite force of any tribe.

NightWing eyes seem to glow in the dark, like a cat's, and they have the second-strongest bite force.

Pictured, from top:
Nobles: Queen Glacier, Winter
Commoners: OCs Iceberg, unnamed, Niveous, Rimaye
IceWings in the noble Circles tend to be pure white, silver, or icy blue, with very few markings, while lower-class dragons have a wider variety of colors and patterns.

SandWings come in every color sand can come in, from off-white, to golden-tan, to brown, to reddish (down in the southern areas near the peninsula), to even occasionally black (cough cough melanism). Pink and green SandWings are also a possibility, although not on mainland Pyrrhia. Also, kohl markings.

This one's not my headcanon, but I've fully embraced it: SandWings have much larger ears than the other tribes. This both aids in heat regulation in their desert habitat and contributes to their excellent hearing.

Some OC designs

Well, I totally dropped the ball on Inktober. Not because I wasn't drawing, though--I've made several reference sheets of the characters from my WoF fanfic/planned fancomic over the past few days, and I figured out how to animate in GIMP (more on that later).

Quickmind of the NightWings
Quickmind is a scientist for the Shadow Claws, and the best friend of Hamerkop.

Hamerkop of the MudWings
I did the more finished drawing in the middle before I'd really figured out Hamerkop's face shape. Oh well.

Iceberg of the IceWings
Iceberg is part of the Blazing Initiative, a group organized to combat the Shadow Claws. This drawing was mostly to figure out his stripe pattern.

Shadow Claws

I did design sketches for some of my WoF OCs a couple weeks ago, and I love how they turned out, so I figured I'd share them. These characters are all part of a secret organization known as the Shadow Claws, dedicated to overthrowing the queens of Pyrrhia. I've tried hard to give them unique, recognizable designs while still making them look like the tribe they belong to.

Note: these were originally all one image that I digitally chopped up, so the spacing is a little weird on some of them.

Fer-de-lance is a SandWing/RainWing hybrid and the leader of the Shadow Claws. She's named for and patterned after a highly venomous Central American pit viper, and she's one of my oldest WoF OCs, dating back to 2014 (although the design is new).

Albacore of the SeaWings

Albacore is a SeaWing and the Shadow Claws' head assassin. His design is based on the albacore tuna, for which he's named, and the nonbreeding plumage of the common murre.

Oribi the SandWing is one of Albacore's apprentices. He's not very well developed. His wings are based on the Montagu's harrier.

Petrel the IceWing
Petrel the IceWing is also one of Albacore's apprentices, but she's a little better developed. She's designed after the Cook's petrel, and to a lesser extent the cape petrel, although the latter's influence is hard to see in this picture. Also hard to see here is her broken left horn.

Owl's been featured here before, and her design's pretty much the same. The undersides of her wings weren't visible, though. She's another of Albacore's apprentices, a NightWing/SkyWing hybrid he raised pretty much from hatching.

Ibex the SkyWing is a fairly low-ranking member of the SC. His wings are based on the booted eagle and the rest of his design is based on the Iberian ibex. His wing's not actually tattered, I just didn't color it properly since it was overlapped by Albacore in the full file.

Hamerkop the MudWing is a doctor/scientist for the SC. His design isn't based on any animal in particular--MudWings are described in the books as sometimes having gold underbellies, but I've never seen an OC like that, so I figured I'd make one. He's named after an African waterbird.
